The Power of the Pen team competed in the district tournament on Saturday at West Carrollton. Each participant was required to write in three rounds of fictional narrative composition with each round lasting 40 minutes.
There were 91 seventh grade competitors, and the top 12 writers were awarded. Among those were Emma Meyer, who finished in 11th place, and Brianna Brown, who earned a 2nd place finish. In addition to Emma and Brianna, the seventh grade team consisted of Zoe Billenstein, Cassie Leach, Brooke Moorman, Montana Pulfer, and Elizabeth Brewer. Out of 20 teams, this group of girls took home the 3rd place team trophy. Emma and Brianna automatically advance to the regional competition in March. There were 84 writers at the eighth grade level, and competing for Versailles was AJ Pleiman, who along with our other writers, anxiously awaits the results that will determine whether or not they will compete at the regional level. Congratulations and good luck to our writers!
