HOMECOMING WEEK!!!!!

Thought for the week from Mrs. Stonebraker

The meaning of life is to find your gift.  The purpose of life is to give it away.  I challenge you to find your gift and in the meantime, give a gift that you cannot purchase this week.

FCA - FCA will be honoring the football and cheer teams tomorrow (Friday) morning at 7:30 a.m. in D147 - All are welcome!

Congratulations to our lady golfers who advanced to districts by placing 4th yesterday at sectionals!

Congratulations to the Versailles FFA Chapter for being named a Top 3 Chapter in the Nation, out of ovr 8,900 FFA chapters as a Models of Excellence award recipient. This award is based off of the National Chapter Application that is filled out by the members!
We are so proud of Zoe Billenstein and Colin Batten for representing the chapter in the interview process and telling the story of the Versailles FFA. We are so excited to watch them share the story again with those in attendance at National FFA Convention at the end of October.

The University of Dayton Leadership in Service Scholarship
Versailles can nominate graduating seniors for the Leadership in Service Scholarship at the University of Dayton. The scholarship is worth $10,000 ($2,500 per year for four years). While the chosen students need to meet  UD admission standards, the scholarship does not need to be awarded based on GPA and test scores. UD is looking for students who have an innate desire for personal development and are committed to service.

To apply for this scholarship, write a brief essay describing what lessons you have learned through your service,  your academic resume, and the email address you used, or will use, to apply to UD. The application is due to Mrs. Ahrens by Oct 21st.

Homecoming Rules
1) Homecoming is restricted to high school students and their dates (including graduates) - NO junior high students

2) If you bring a date from another school, these individuals must follow all Versailles rules and codes of conduct.  You, as the VHS student inviting an outside individual, take responsibility for your guest knowing and following our school rules.  Failure of visitors to follow school regulations could result in loss of privileges for the VHS student as well as loss of privileges for the visiting individual.   Any student who is asked to leave Homecoming (because of their behavior or their date’s) will be prohibited from attending next year’s homecoming (seniors will not be able to attend the prom).

3) Appropriate dress is to be worn to Homecoming.  At a semi-formal dance such as Homecoming, students are expected to wear a dress or dress slacks with a dress shirt/sweater and dress shoes.

4) Homecoming tickets must be purchased in advance.  No tickets will be sold at the door on Saturday evening. You will not be allowed into the dance without a ticket. Tickets are being sold during lunch this week.  Tickets cost $8 per individual or $15 per couple.

5) The Homecoming Dance will be from 8:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.  Music will start at 8:00 pm.  The doors will open at 7:30 pm, and no one will be permitted to enter the dance after 8:30 pm unless approved by the administration ahead of time.  Everyone attending the dance must enter through door 7 (Theatre doors).  Once a student leaves the dance, he/she will not be allowed to re-enter.

6)  Possession, use, consumption, sale, offer, or transfer of alcoholic beverages, drugs, or look-alike drugs at a school dance or on the property on which the dance is being held (including inside cars in the parking lot) is grounds for a ten day suspension from school and immediate removal from the dance and the property where the dance is being held. Any student that has entered the dance and is under the influence of drugs or alcohol or caught smoking/vaping/drinking in restrooms or on school grounds will be disciplined according to school policy.

7) During Homecoming you MAY NOT engage in any types of dancing that include any sexually explicit or suggestive dance gestures. No front to back or back to front grinding. No dancing with hands below your partner's hips.  Moshing or slamming into one another is prohibited.  No crowd surfing or putting students on your shoulders.  Students or guests participating in this type of behavior will be asked to leave the dance.  Remember: Face to face and leave some space!
