Member of the Month



Noah Shimp and Ayden Bergman were recognized at the December FFA Meeting as the December FFA Members of the Month.  


Versailles FFA held their December FFA meeting at McBo’s on December 20th and enjoyed pizza and bowling as part of the meeting.  Noah Shimp was recognized as December Versailles FFA Member of the Month. 


Noah is the son of Josh and Dawn Shimp of Versailles. He is a 4-year member and has participated in monthly meetings, fruit sales, Feed the Farmer, Color Run, Greenhand Conference, Darke County Fair Shop & Crop, CDE Luncheon, Farm Day, Canned Food Drive, Leadership Night, Corn Growing Contest, Fall Harvest Sale, Omelet Breakfast, Tractor Troubleshooting, and Dairy Judging career development events.


His SAE consists of working at Koenig Equipment and Hueslkamp Farms and Noah participates in the capstone program. Noah received a t-shirt and certificate for being named Versailles FFA member of the month.


Ayden Bergman was recognized as December Versailles FFA Member. Ayden is the son of Aaron and Susan Bergman of Yorkshire. Ayden is a senior this year and is a 5-year member and has participated in monthly meetings, fruit sales, Canned Food Drive, CDE Luncheon, Farm Day, Omelet Breakfast, Soup and Sandwich Social, Poultry Days, nursery landscape CDE, and wildlife CDE. Ayden SAE consists of operating his own mowing and landscaping program and is currently employed at Midmark in the Maintenance Program as part of the capstone program. Ayden received a t-shirt and certificate for being named Versailles FFA member of the month.


 

Colin Batten, Alex Mangen, and Lauren Sherman selected November FFA Members of the Month
 
On November 16, 2021, the Versailles FFA held their monthly meeting. During the meeting, first year members were awarded with their Greenhand FFA Degree. The chapter also prepared fall treats for members to enjoy following the meeting. The chapter also named three members of the month. These are Colin Batten, Alex Mangen, and Lauren Sherman.

Colin Batten is the first member of the month. Colin is the son of Suzanne and Chris Batten. He is a freshman this year and a 2nd-year member. Colin has participated in monthly meetings, farm day, CDE luncheon, Greenhand quiz CDE, canned food drive, fruit sales, Toy Drive, corn growing contest, Fall Harvest Sale, public speaking, Dairy Judging. He serves as an assistant reporter. Colin is currently employed at Schmitmeyer Farms where he milks and checks the health of the cows. Congratulations again to Colin Batten for being named member of the month.

Alex Mangen is the second member of the month. Alex is the son of Steve and Karen Mangen. He is a senior this year and a 5th-year member. Alex is a five-year member and has participated in National FFA Convention, showing livestock at the fair, exhibiting shop and crop at the fair, farm day, monthly meetings, canned food drive, fruit sales, leadership night, ag industrial diagnostics, and participating in corn-growing contest. His SAE consists of raising a market barrow for the fair and working at Winner’s Meats where he cleans the machines and makes sure everything is ready for the next day of processing. Congratulations again to Alex Mangen for being named a member of the month.

Lauren Sherman is the third and final member of the month. She is the daughter of Steve and the late Michelle Sherman. She is also a senior this year and a 5th-year member. She has participated in National FFA Convention, Farm Day, State FFA Convention, monthly meetings, Virtual Young Ag Conference, Soup and Sandwich Social, fruit sales and is the top seller this year, canned food drive, FFA Greenhand Conference, Soup and Sandwich Social, Ag is Cool tent, Farm Day, Assistant Officer and Job Interview CDE. Her SAE consists of working at Custom Foam Products, Inc.

McGlinch and Wuebker Named as October FFA Members of the Month 


On October 18, 2021, the Versailles FFA chapter held its monthly meeting. At the meeting, the chapter recognized second-year members who received their Chapter Degree. The members also enjoyed fall treats after the meeting. During the meeting, two members of the month were named. They are Maggie McGlinch and Andrew Wuebker. 


Maggie is the daughter of Greg and Janet McGlinch. She has participated in the canned food drive, fall harvest sale, FFA Banquet, fruit sales, feed the farmers, virtual state convention, nursing home visits, shop, and crop, showing livestock at the fair, agronomy, parliamentary procedure, attended FFA camp this summer, exhibited shop and crop at Darke County Fair, and will be going to National FFA Convention. Maggie’s SAE consists of job placement Down Home Farms, poultry, cover crops, and a field of corn. Congratulations to Maggie McGlinch for being an October member of the month.


The second member of the month is Andrew Wuebker. Andrew is the son of Alan and Sarah Wuebker. He has participated in the canned food drive, nursing home visits, showing livestock at the fair, FFA banquet, fruit sales, feed the farmer, virtual state convention, virtual national convention, helping with the Greenhand Conference, parliamentary procedure, exhibited shop and crop at Darke County Fair, public speaking, Greenhand quiz, and attended  FFA camp this summer. His SAE consists of job placement at Wuebker Farms and showing steers. Andrew and Maggie received a plaque and a shirt for their accomplishment.

Jayden Groff and Emma Middendorf selected as 
Versailles FFA September 2021 members of the month

Jayden Groff is a senior and a 5-year member. His parents are Dave and Karen Groff. He has been working hard competing in the National FFA Environmental and natural resources team. Jayden was also a member of the state-winning wildlife team. He earned his State FFA Degree in May of 2021, and his SAE is job placement at Greenville Ace Hardware.  Jayden has participated in monthly meetings, EMT firefighter training, Fall Harvest Sale, Farm Day, fruit sales. He had the reserve champion shop project at the Darke County Fair. Congratulations again to Jayden Groff for being the member of the month.

Emma Middendorf is a sophomore and a 3rd-year member of the Versailles FFA.  Emma’s grandparents are Robin and Gary Middendorf. Emma has participated in a wide variety of Versailles FFA activities including shop and crop, monthly meetings, canned food drive, fruit sales, virtual national FFA convention, Virtual young ag conference, fall harvest sale, farm day, nursing home visits, feed the farmer, shop and crop, Darke county fair barn clean-out, ag is cool tent and more. Her SAE is a garden and she has participated in General Livestock CDE. Congratulations to Emma for being the member of the month.

Emma and Jayden received a plaque and a t-shirt for their accomplishment.







Lyme, Luthman, Gehret, and Luthman were selected as Versailles FFA Members of the Month
February 2021


On February 25th, the Versailles FFA held their February FFA Meeting in conjunction with National FFA Week which also consisted of officer elections. After the meeting, FFA members had pizza and ice cream and played basketball. At the meeting, Versailles FFA announced the February Members of the Month in which Josh Luthman, Jessica Lyme, Wes Gehret, and Carter Luthman. 


Josh Luthman is the son of Randy and Danielle Luthman. He is a fifth-year senior and he participated in farm day, soup and sandwich social, omelet breakfast, fruit sales, National FFA Convention, Leadership Night, attended monthly meetings, and Greenhand FFA Conference. He has competed in wildlife, food science, and parliamentary procedure CDEs. His SAE consists of working at Stillwater Golf Course and working for Luthman Electric.  Josh will receive his State FFA Degree at the 2021 State FFA Convention.  Josh received a t-shirt and certificate for being named a member of the month. Congratulations Josh!


The second February FFA Member of the Month is senior Jessica Lyme. She is the daughter of Angie Lyme and Kevin Lyme. Jessica is a fifth-year member and has participated in fruit sales, shop and crop, canned food drive, farm day, pork loin dinner, color run, fall harvest sale, omelet breakfast, Darke County Leadership Night, and Greenhand conference. She has competed in agronomy and horse judging. Her SAE consists of a garden and showing a dairy steer and beef steers. Jessica will receive her State FFA Degree at the 2021 State FFA Convention.  Jessica received a t-shirt and certificate for being named a member of the month. Congratulations Jessica!


The third February FFA Member of the Month is junior Wesley Gehret. He is the son of Bob and Patty Gehret. He is a four-year member and has participated in the canned food drive, farm day, fruit sales, State FFA Convention, Darke County Leadership Night, monthly meetings, and Greenhand conference. He has competed in Nursery landscape, wildlife, and parliamentary procedure. His SAE consists of working at Gehret nursery and Homestead Nursery. Wesley will receive his State FFA Degree at the 2021 State FFA Convention and is among the Top 4 in the State with his proficiency award winner area in the area of Diversified Horticulture.  Wesley received a t-shirt and certificate for being named a member of the month. Congratulations Wesley!


The final February FFA Member of the Month is junior Carter Luthman. Carter is the son of Kelly and Kevin Luthman. He is a fourth-year member and has participated in farm day, fruit sales, shop and crop, State FFA Convention, Darke County Leadership Night, monthly meetings, and Greenhand conference. He has competed in wildlife and parliamentary procedure. His SAE consists of working at Knapke Poultry Farms and Groff’s mowing and lawn care. Carter will receive his State FFA Degree at the 2021 State FFA Convention and is among the Top 4 in the State with his proficiency award winner area in the area of Poultry. Carter received a t-shirt and certificate for being named a member of the month. Congratulations Carter!




Mescher, Heitkamp, Grillot, and Dircksen selected FFA Members of the Month
for January 2021


On January 11th, the Versailles FFA held their January FFA Meeting this meeting was run by this year's assistant officers. After the meeting, FFA members had various snacks and desserts. At the meeting, Versailles FFA announced the January Members of the Month in which Jason Mescher, Caleb Heitkamp, Chloe Grillot, and Greg Dircksen were recognized. 


Jason Mescher is the son of Melissa and Todd Mescher, and he is a Senior. He is a fifth-year member and has participated in Leadership night, Can Food Drive, FFA Fruit Sales, Monthly Meetings, FFA Week Basketball Tournament, and Farm Day.  Jason participates in the agriculture and industrial diagnostics career development event.  He is a member of the capstone program where he works at Brad Winner Drilling. Jason received a t-shirt and certificate for being named a member of the month.  Congratulations Jason!


The second November FFA Member of the Month is senior Caleb Heitkamp. He is the son of Kendra and Matt Heikamp. Caleb is a fifth-year member and has participated in fruit sales, monthly meetings, shop and crop, Omelet Breakfast, color run, Greenhand conference, and alumni pork loin dinner. He has competed in CDE grain merchandising. Caleb serves as the PALS committee co-chair. Caleb received a t-shirt and certificate for being named a member of the month. Congratulations Caleb!


The third November FFA Member of the Month is Senior Chloe Grillot. She is the daughter of Samantha Keiser. She is a fifth-year member and has participated in fruit sales, toy drive, State FFA Convention, monthly meetings, color run, farm day work sessions, leadership night, and college fair. She has competed in the CDEs grain merchandising and wildlife.   Chloe received her State FFA Degree in 2020. Chloe received a t-shirt and certificate for being named member of the month. Congratulations Chloe!


The final member of the month is Junior Greg Dircksen. Greg is the son of Bob and Michelle Dircksen. He is a fourth year member and has participated in monthly meetings, nursing home visits, toy drive, fall harvest sale, shop and crop, omelet breakfast, soup and sandwich social, feed the farmer program, canned food drive, and fruit sales. He has competed in the CDE agriculture and industrial diagnostics. Greg received a t-shirt and certificate for being named member of the month. Congratulations Greg!

Versailles FFA Members of the Month - December 2020
 
At the December 21st Versailles FFA Meeting at McBo’s Bowling Lane, three dedicated members of the Versailles FFA were recognized as Versailles FFA Members of the Month.  Versailles FFA members named as members of the month included:  senior Greg Bohman, junior Owen Gehret, and sophomore Kristopher Marshal.
 
Greg Bohman the son of Don and Janice Bohman of Versailles was named a Versailles FFA Member of the Month.  Greg is a fifth-year member and has participated in shop and crop, exhibited livestock at Darke County Fair, monthly meetings, farm day, CDE Luncheon, Canned Food Drive, Fruit Sales, Nursing home visits, State FFA Convention, National FFA Convention, and Leadership night.  Greg is a part of the capstone program where he works at Francis Manufacturing and exhibits dairy steers as his SAE. Greg has competed in agronomy and parliamentary procedure career development events. Congratulations Greg Bohman on being selected as Versailles FFA member of the month.  Greg received a certificate and t-shirt for the honor.
 
Kristopher Marshal the son of Ken and Karla Marshal of Versailles.  Kristopher is a sophomore and third-year member of the Versailles FFA.  Kristopher has participated in Fruit Sales, Fall Harvest Sale, Monthly meetings, delivering toys, Greenhand Conference, exhibited vegetables and Crop at the fair, National and State FFA Convention, and college/business expo.  Kristopher has participated in the Wildlife and Environmental Natural Resources career development events. Congratulations Kristopher Marshal on being the first member of the month. Kristopher received a certificate and t-shirt for the honor.
 
 
Owen Gehret the son of Randy and Christy Gehret of Versailles was selected as the Versailles FFA member.  Owen is a junior this year and is a four-year member and has participated in Fruit sales, monthly meetings, delivering canned food, CDE Luncheon, farm day, beef and pork tent, and exhibits crops/vegetables at the Darke County Fair. Owen attends monthly meetings, leadership night, State, and National FFA Convention.  Owen has competed in the State Wildlife and parliamentary procedure career development events. Congratulations Owen Gehret on being selected as a Versailles FFA member of the month.
