January 11, 2023, Superintendent’s Tale
Project Opportunity construction has started on the new STEM area and dirt is being removed from the south end of the school to make room for the new band and weight room. The FFA area will be worked on once school is released for the year and be ready at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year.
I want to thank all the donors for their support of the students and programs. Your generosity was much appreciated. While we did not raise enough funds to incorporate the multi-purpose area at this time, the Board still wants to strive to make this occur in the future.
We have had great weather to work with so far. Even the blizzard conditions that hit around Christmas did not impact work as work on the job site was not scheduled during that time period.
With that being said, construction on the music area has been pushed up on the schedule with the substantial progress made so far. This change in schedule will impact roads in the following way:
The current connecting road between the East (C, D lots) and West (Student parking Lot B) parking lots will be shut down beginning January 18, 2023. A new connecting road further south on the entrance/exit road off of ST. RT 185 will have to be used moving forward. In the morning/afternoon, students will have to enter the ST. RT 185 entrance instead of using Bus Entrance/Worch Library. The road between lots C/D and the new connecting road will be blocked. Students can still park in Lot D.
Current parking spaces on the south end of the building will no longer be utilized. All parking will be in the A Lot (North Side) B Lot (Student Parking lot, East Side) C Lot (Bus parking, event parking), D Lot (Staff, Student, and Event Parking)
Door entrance #15 on the south end of the building will not be accessible.
For all afterschool and evening events all entrances can be used to get to the connecting road and parking lot areas.
January is School Board Appreciation Month. I want to recognize and thank our board members: Matt Magoto, Jake Broering, Hope Batty, Dr. Ruhenkamp, and Jerry Shardo for their support and growth of the district to meet the needs of students, staff, and the community. Their focus on students' best interests is a pillar of the district.
Do not forget to support our National Award-Winning FFA Program and the Versailles FFA Alumni as they conduct their 26th Annual Soup and Sandwich Social on February 4, 2023, in the Versailles Schools Cafetorium at 280 Marker Rd, Versailles, Ohio. Serving will begin at Noon and run until 8:00 pm. All the proceeds benefit the Versailles FFA and Versailles FFA Alumni Activities and Scholarships.
