Superintendent Tales - August 2021

Superintendent Tales - August 2021

We are in the final days before the start of school, even though many students have been practicing and performing at school activities for about a month now.

Some changes are occurring regarding Covid-19 since the community Zoom meetings a couple of weeks ago.   Darke County Health Department is working on updated guidelines for close contacts with positive Covid-19 persons. We expect these guidelines to be out soon so we can share with families.

I suspect there may be more changes occurring with COVID guidelines in the next few weeks. The district will share information as soon as possible with families. Potential updated guidelines or changes to our protocols will be shared using the Instant Connect automated communication system. You are welcome to contact our school nurse, Tracy Cordonnier at [email protected] or by calling (937) 526- 4427, Ext 4115 with questions.

I want to reiterate the district’s commitment to having face-to-face instruction for all students. We will do everything possible to make this occur.  To assist the district in making this happen, please keep your students home if they are ill to prevent spreading any illnesses.

With the start of the year, students riding the bus need to be at their bus stops 5 minutes before their scheduled pick up time. After the first couple of weeks, bus routes will be reviewed for potential changes. Any alternate routing will be shared with families prior to executing changes.  I expect routes to start no earlier than 7 AM and for students to be dropped off no later than 4 PM. Please contact me at 937-621-1810 or by email [email protected] if you have any questions.

I made a mistake scheduling the Gifted Services meeting on September 12th. I somehow didn’t recognize this was a Sunday evening. I am rescheduling the event to Wednesday, September 15th at 6:30 PM in the theatre.

Lunch menus for the month are subject to change due to supply chain issues.  It seems many items we typically order are not available.  Please check the Food Service webpage for updates by clicking our homepage (https://www.versailles.k12.oh.us), District, Departments, Food Services. Or you can type in https://www.versailles.k12.oh.us/FoodServices.aspx to access the menu directly. Changes should be made a week ahead of serving dates.

There could potentially be a change to the school calendar.   The professional development day on Friday, January 28, 2022 may become a regular student day.
