Good Evening Tigers, This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with a reminder about the regularly scheduled school calendar. This message is just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, May 2, 2025, we will start the day on a pre-scheduled 2-hour delay for staff professional development. Buses will arrive 2 hours later than normal. Have a great remainder of your evening. Go Tigers!

Come join the team! Be the first smiling face to greet our wonderful students in the morning, and the last to say, "Have a great night!" in the afternoons.
Versailles Schools has two (2) bus driver openings for the 2025-2026 school year. These will be AM and PM regular bus routes, approximately 3 hours/day, and $23.66 - $31.55/hour based on years of bus driver experience.
Being a regular route driver also gives you priority to choose to take trips for games and field trips while being paid to be there as well.
If you do not have a CDL with both the passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsements, we will provide the training. Training can begin as soon as the school year concludes.
If interested, or even if you just have some questions, please contact Kyle Kunk, Transportation Supervisor, at kyle.kunk@vtigers.org or 937-526-4773.

This morning the School District conducted a Lock Down school safety drill at approximately 10:30 am. This was only a drill.

Good morning Tigers,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important message about safety this morning.

Don't forget to set your clocks forward by an hour before you go to bed tonight! (Saturday, March 8, 2025)

Reminder, that tomorrow, Friday, March 7, 2025, will be a planned 2-hour delay for staff professional development. Buses will arrive 2 hours later than your regularly scheduled pick-up time. Thank you!

Now available to Families of all K-12 students:
We have Chromebooks that are being replaced per the regular replacement schedule approved by the Board of Education. As such, several still fully functional Chromebooks are being made available to our students' families. These devices work just fine. They have, however, reached end of service and support from a district perspective. If you are looking for a really affordable option to have an additional device at home, please see the pictures for the specific details.

Good morning,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an update about school today. I don’t normally call to tell you that we ARE going to school. However, due to specific circumstances today I’m making an exception to that rule. We ARE going to school after the 2-hour delay today Thursday, February, 20, 2025.
However, due to several driver illnesses, we are short drivers. Therefore the in-town route will be running approximately 20-30 minutes behind as we have to have a driver go back out after finishing their primary route. If it is at all possible, and you are able to make other arrangements to get your children to school, that would be greatly appreciated and very helpful. This is for the in town route only. Thank you for your understanding.

Good morning,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important message about travel safety and today’s school schedule. Due to the overnight weather conditions and the resulting road conditions of our secondary roads, we will start today, Thursday, February 20, 2025 on a 2-hour delay. This will allow our drivers to best see the road safely in the daylight. We will continue to drive over the next couple of hours to further evaluate safety before making a final decision about the day.
Thank you,
Be safe.

Families of K-8 students:

As such, several still fully functional Chromebooks are being made available to our students' families. These devices work just fine. Good evening Tigers,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important message about the school schedule tomorrow. Mr. Kunk, our Transportation Director, and I just got back in from driving all over the district. While many of the main roads are very clear, several of our secondary roads are still snow covered and packed down, and there are many places with patchy ice. We are going to start tomorrow (Tuesday, February 18, 2025) on a 2 hour delay simply to allow drivers the daylight in order to best see the road safely.
Thank you.
Have a good evening. Be safe, and we'll see everyone two hours late tomorrow.

Reminder: Monday, February 17, 2025, is President's Day.
School will be closed in observance of the Federal Holiday.
Thank you.
Go Tigers!

Reminder, that tomorrow, Friday, February 14, 2025, will be a planned 2-hour delay for staff professional development. Buses will arrive 2 hours later than your regularly scheduled pick-up time.
Thank you!

Good Morning,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important message about school today. Due to the freezing rain that is sticking around longer than the weather forecast predicted, many of our secondary roads are still icy. Versailles will be on a 2-hour delay today, Thursday, February 6, 2025 to allow additional time for road treatment and melting.

This week is National School Counselors Week. We're taking a moment to celebrate and say "Thank you" to our School Counselors.
Mrs. Michelle Hartings and Mrs. Hollie Ahrens are our two School Counselors. Please consider taking a moment when you have one, to let Mrs. Hartings and Mrs. Ahrens know that you appreciate their work, or share a story with them directly as to how they helped you and your child(ren) in school.
If you want to take a moment to send an personal email, the addresses are as follows: hollie.ahrens@vtigers.org and michelle.hartings@vtigers.org
Of course, a like and a positive comment on the district's Facebook page are also wonderful little pick-me-ups!
We are very grateful to our School Counselors both during this special week, but more importantly - all year round. Thanks for all that you do to ensure student success!

Good afternoon Tigers,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with a quick reminder that tomorrow, Monday, January 27, 2025, there will be no school for students to allow for staff professional development.
Thank you again. Have a great Sunday afternoon.
Go Tigers!

Good afternoon Tigers,
This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with important weather and safety-related information.
Due to the wind chill expected to hover around -20 degrees for much of the day tomorrow, Versailles Schools will be closed for Wednesday, January 22, 2025. We wanted to call relatively early this evening to allow families to make plans for childcare etc.
Thank you for your understanding. Be safe. Stay inside, and stay warm tonight and tomorrow.

Good evening Tigers. This is Superintendent Dave Harmon with an important weather and safety-related message.
In thinking about the safety of students who walk to school, and those who may will be waiting at the bus stop for the bus to arrive, tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, 2025 school will start on a 2-hour delay due to the expected dangerous cold windchill numbers.
This will allow us time in the morning to see if it ended up being as cold as the forecast suggested and to help us to know if we are able to come to school safely or not.
Thank you for your understanding. Enjoy your time together as family this evening. Be safe. Go Tigers!

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Versailles Exempted Village Schools are celebrating its board members for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students.
Today's Board Member Highlight is on Board member Jerry Shardo.
Mr. Shardo grew up in Willowdell and continues to live there. Jerry is a graduate of Versailles High School and has been married for 42 years to his high school sweetheart, Reyna, who works as the HS secretary for Versailles schools. The Shardos have 3 married children, Mindy, Joe, and Jeremy, and 8 grandchildren. Jerry was part owner of a local pallet shop for approximately 35 years until he sold out to his brother and nephew. Mr. Shardo continues to work part-time for them today and also runs a small used car business on the side.
Jerry decided to become a Versailles school board member to simply give back and to do his part in keeping Versailles schools at the top of the pack.
Mr. Shardo began his service to the students, staff, and community as a Board member in January of 2018. His current term runs through December 31, 2025.
Mr. Shardo, thank you for your service to the school system!
